For my arts apprentice session I will be teaching the group how to create a simple effect on Photoshop.

Aim:

To teach the group in pairs how to create a silhouette effect on Adobe Photoshop.

Tools: (needed for this exercise)

  • A couple of brains
  • 3 Laptops
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Pictures

Health & Safety:

  • Cables plugged into laptop must be tidied away to avoid any accidents.
  • Food and drink must be kept away from the electronic device.

Other Issues:

I am fully aware that using photographs or any material from the internet may be subject to copyright. In this activity I will be using material from the internet.

Plan:

As there are three laptops available I will need to split the group up, hopefully into pairs.

The exercise should take no longer than 20 minutes and 10 minutes extra for setting up and packing away.

  • 2 minutes explaining the activity
  • 15 minutes activity time
  • 3 minutes showcasing their work to me and the rest of the group

Today we we were at the BFI (British Film Institute) and the day was full of activity, including a huge pizza lunch – again. As the day was full of action I’m going to blog this is two parts. Five.1 and Five.2.  You know just to break it up a little.

The first half of the session we watch an inspiring French film (English subtititles) called La Haine. A film that we had watched briefly in the fist session of the project. The title being quite powerful itself translating into ‘Hate’ proved its greatness. Why I say it was inspiring? Our film is based on escaping from the hood and this film directed by Mathieu Kassovitz had the same theme running through it.

Here are some photo’s from the first session:
